Purpose

The purpose of this rulemaking is to maintain consistency with federal listing and taxonomic determinations for five Federally-listed species on the Florida Endangered and Threatened Species List. The proposed rule will remove the Panama City crayfish as a species of special concern under Rule 68A-27.005, F.A.C., and will add the species as a Federally-designated Threatened Species under Rule 68A-27.003, F.A.C. Proposed revisions also would update the scientific names of the shinyrayed pocketbook (Hamiota subangulata), Choctaw bean (Obovaria choctawensis), round ebonyshell (Reginaia rotulata), and eastern indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi) in Rule 68A-27.003, F.A.C. The effect of these rule amendments will be to update the listing status of one species and update the scientific names of four species.
