This hearing is being held to afford interested persons the opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, social, economic and environmental effects of Financial Project ID: 213326-2, otherwise known as I-10 (SR-8) from I-295 to I-95 in Duval County, Florida. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study to evaluate the proposed widening of I-10 from I-295 east to I-95, approximately 5 miles in Duval County, Florida. This segment of I-10 experiences peak period congestions due to demand that exceeds capacity. With expectations of continued traffic congestion, this PD&E study is evaluating the need for additional travel lanes to provide capacity improvements and congestion relief. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide information on the study’s findings, discuss the recommended alternative and once again receive your input. As of November 21, 2017, project information will be available for review at the Murray Hill Library, 918 Edgewood Avenue S., Jacksonville, FL 32205 and the FDOT Urban Office, 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so at the hearing or mail/email them to the address provided, no later than December 27, 2017. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
