Subject
The intent of this project is to resurface approximately 3.5 miles of U.S. 231 from north of State Road (S.R.) 73 to north of County Road (C.R.) 162 (Jacob Road) in Jackson County. Existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders will be resurfaced. Additional improvements include guardrail upgrades and drainage improvements. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and a Restrictive Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) will be added at the U.S. 231 and Jacob Road intersection. ITS will provide improved video coverage of the U.S. 231 and Jacob Road intersection while the RCUT will reduce the number and severity of angle crashes that occur at this intersection. No right-of-way is anticipated. Bids for construction will be received fall 2019.
