This hearing offers people the opportunity to express their views about the preferred alternatives. An informal open house begins at 5 p.m., and the formal public hearing begins at 6 p.m. The formal hearing will consist of a presentation by the county about the study and its preferred alternatives, followed by a public comment period.
The preferred alternatives under consideration consist of new bridge crossings over canals at 8th Street N.E. from Golden Gate Blvd. to Randall Blvd., 16th Street N.E. from Golden Gate Blvd. to Randall Blvd., and 47th Ave. N.E. from Immokalee Road to Everglades Blvd., as well as roadway enhancements including sidewalks. These area and corridor enhancements will provide operational and safety improvements, better emergency response times, evacuation capabilities, and service capabilities to the surrounding area. The increased connectivity provided by these improvements will also increase the efficiency of services delivered to the subdivision and allow more options for alternative travel routes.
Draft project reports and conceptual plans will be available for public review from February 24, 2015 through March 27, 2015 at the Collier County Public Library, Estates Branch, 1266 Golden Gate Blvd W, Naples, FL 34120 (Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
The hearing will fulfill the requirements of Executive Orders 11988 “Floodplain Management” and 11990 pertaining to “Protection of Wetlands”, whereas the opportunity for early public review and comment is offered for projects proposed to be located in wetlands and floodplains. There are wetland impacts and floodplain involvement associated with this project.
