The City of Lakeland (City) will conduct a public hearing for the proposed improvements at the intersection of US 92 (New Tampa Highway) and Wabash Avenue in Polk County, Florida. The public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Trinity Life Church of God located at 1942 W. Memorial Blvd., Lakeland, Florida 33815. The public hearing will begin as an open house at 5pm, with a formal presentation at 5:45pm, followed by a public comment period. The proposed improvements consist of adding a second left turn lane for eastbound traffic with added two-foot wide concrete separators. The proposed intersection improvement will also include constructing concrete sidewalk along the north side of US 92 between Chestnut Road and Wabash Avenue; Additionally, sidewalk will be constructed on both sides of Wabash Avenue between Lanier Street and US 92. This public hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. Draft project documents will be available for public review from March 29, 2019 to April 12, 2019, at City of Lakeland Public Works Engineering located in City Hall 2nd Floor at 228 South Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801 and on the project website, http://www.lakelandgov.net/departments/public-works/projects/. Persons wishing to submit statements, in place of or in addition to oral statements, may do so at the hearing or by sending them to Greg James at 228 South Massachusetts Avenue Lakeland, Florida 33801. All statements should be postmarked no later than (10 days after meeting) April 8, 2019 and will become a part of the public hearing record.
