The Sarasota/Manatee Barrier Islands Traffic Study is examining the feasibility of improving the overall infrastructure, including traffic operations and circulation, on the Sarasota/Manatee barrier islands as well as island-to-mainland connections. Phase 1 and 2 of the traffic study are complete and the proposed operational improvements have been solidified. Phase 3 of the project is underway and includes improved origin/destination analysis, reviewing potential funding sources, refining cost estimates, project priorities, and mobility solutions. At this steering committee project staff will be updating the committee on the progress of the study and will center the discussion on the vision of the local communities.
