The mission of this collaborative forum is to identify challenges, gain consensus, develop solutions, and create an environment which fosters depopulation. The Florida Legislature created the Depopulation Program to reduce the number of property owners who have insurance coverage through Citizens by encouraging new or existing private insurance companies to take on Citizens policies. By transferring policies back to the private market, Citizens can reduce the likelihood or amount of assessments to be charged to all Florida property insurance consumers.
