Jefferson County School District had notified the Commissioner of Education that the district is in a financial emergency as required by Section 218.503, F.S. The Commissioner recommended to the State Board of Education that a financial emergency board be appointed to oversee the activities of the School District. The purpose of the meeting was for the State Board of Education to appoint the members of the financial emergency board and to select a chairman of the board. Action Taken: The State Board of Education appointed Mr. William Johnson as Chairman and Mr. James Messer and Mr. James Parry as members to a financial emergency board to provide support and financial oversight to the District School Board of Jefferson County pursuant to Section 218.503, Florida Statutes.
