Project Description: FDOT is conducting a public hearing regarding access management changes along Courtenay Parkway (State Road 3) near Minna Lane, Lura Lane, and Tangerine Avenue in Brevard County. Improvements include closing the median openings at Minna Lane and Lura Lane to a accommodate extending the northbound and southbound turn lanes at Hurwood Avenue and Needle Boulevard, and converting the full median opening at Tangerine Avenue to a directional median opening. The project also involves milling and resurfacing all lanes and turn lanes from SR 520 to Skylark Avenue, reducing the width of the median opening at Home Depot to better direct traffic and improve safety, installing mast arms at Hurwood Avenue and Needle Boulevard, and providing a continuous bike lane by restriping and widening in the median at two locations. The project is funded for construction in 2015.
The hearing will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, 140 Magnolia Avenue, Merritt Island FL, 32952. It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m. where participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m. after which participants may provide comments to all present.
