The purpose of this meeting is to conduct a workshop to gather public testimony in response to a request made by the commercial sponge industry to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission’s Division of Marine Fisheries Management to allow commercial sponge diving in Florida waters westward of 84 degrees west longitude. Florida waters west of 84 degrees west longitude are presently closed to commercial sponge diving.
