Nationwide Insurance Company of Florida has requested a 19.8 percent overall increase for new and renewal homeowners’ insurance policies, effective December 10, 2010. The rate increases are not uniform and some areas are subject to higher rate increases. Florida law allows the Office of Insurance Regulation to hold a public hearing for any purpose within the scope of the Insurance Code deemed to be necessary.
