The primary objectives for this project are to facilitate a more effective freight movement and hurricane evacuation route from the coast, to reduce congestion in the City of Milton, and promote economic prosperity while minimizing impacts to the community and environment. Based on the corridor analysis and the public input received at the January 27, 2011, Public Corridor Meeting, three corridors have been eliminated. The three southern corridors had fatal flaws due to their impacts to protected Water Management District Lands. The three northern corridors were determined to be viable. Alternatives were developed, and an alternatives comparison analysis was prepared. The goal of the meeting on August 16, 2011, is to provide the public with the analysis findings, and to gather public input. The alternative(s) that will move forward into conceptual design will be selected based on the analysis and public comments received. The draft project documents will be available for public review from August 9, 2011 to August 16, 2011 at the: Santa Rosa County Engineering Department, 6051 Old Bagdad Highway, Suite 300, Milton, FL.
