Purpose
The Federal Clean Water Act requires states to conduct a comprehensive review of their surface water quality standards every three years (“triennial review”). The proposed rule amendments were developed under the current triennial review. Two public workshops were held on September 1, 2005 (Orlando) and September 7, 2005 (Tallahassee). A number of surface water quality criteria are revised and an amendment is made to the opening paragraph in Rule 62-302.530, F.A.C., to take into account natural and statistical variability when evaluating ambient waters for the purposes of determining impairment. In addition, a number of non-substantive, editorial changes are made to update cross-references and correct typographical errors.
