Purpose


The purpose of this rule development is to revise Rule 6A-6.03012, F.A.C., to address evaluation and eligibility procedures for students suspected of having a speech impairment; revise procedures consistent with current practices in the field; and clarify the responsibilities and qualifications for speech-language pathologists providing speech services and to establish new Rule 6A-6.030121, F.A.C., to address evaluation and eligibility procedures for students suspected of having a language impairment; establish procedures consistent with current practices in the field; and clarify the responsibilities and qualifications for speech-language pathologists providing language services. The effect will be rules that reflect current practices in the field of speech/language pathology to improve identification of, and services to, students in need of exceptional education services.
