Proposal to seek federal approval for a designated state health program. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: During the 2017 Legislative Session, the Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) was directed to seek federal approval for a designated state health program (DSHP) that will allow general revenue funds expended on behavioral health services to become eligible as state match for federal funds. The Agency is soliciting public input on the proposal to create a DSHP to serve targeted populations that are enrolled in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Safety Net System administered by the Department of Children and Families in an effort to enhance long-term outcomes by increasing the use of coordinated, community-based services and supports and reducing the use of intensive services. These populations consist of Medicaid eligible individuals that are at high risk for poor health and social outcomes. The Agency has prepared a draft concept paper to facilitate discussions during the public meeting. The concept paper can be found at the following link: http://ahca.myflorida.com/Medicaid/Policy_and_Quality/Policy/behavioral_health_coverage/DHSP.shtml SUBMITTING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS: In addition to the public meetings, the Agency is accepting comments and suggestions submitted by postal service or Internet email. When providing comments regarding the DSHP proposal, please have ‘DSHP Proposal’ referenced in the subject line.
