The City of St. Petersburg will be holding a public hearing to discuss the 40th Avenue NE Over Placido Bayou Project Development & Environmental (PD&E) Study in Pinellas County. The hearing is being held as part of a current Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study that is being conducted to address structural deficiencies of the existing 40th Avenue NE Bridge. The current bridge structure was constructed in 1961 and widened in 1990. It is considered structurally deficient by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and therefore is scheduled for replacement. This project will replace the existing 40th Avenue NE Bridge in St. Petersburg, Florida. The project limits extend from 12th St. NE to west of 13th Way NE, a distance of 0.15 miles. The new bridge will accommodate two lanes of traffic, bicycle lanes, and sidewalks.
The City of St. Petersburg will begin the public hearing as an open house at 6:00 p.m. with a formal presentation at 7:00 p.m. followed by a public comment period. This hearing will give people the opportunity to review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members about the proposed project improvements. It is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.
Written comments may be submitted in place of or in addition to oral comments. Comments may be provided at the hearing or by mail to Ziba Mohammadi, P.E., PTOE, City of St. Petersburg, PO Box 2842, St. Petersburg, FL 33731, or emailed to Ziba.Mohammadi@stpete.org. All comments must be postmarked or received through email by September 20, 2019, to become part of the official public hearing record.
