The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public information meeting to discuss the upcoming improvements to State Road 82 from east of Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard to Shawnee Road in Lee County, Florida.
The meeting will be an open house format; no formal presentation will be made. Those attending the meeting will be able to view displays, ask questions, and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.
The department’s contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, begins work mid-September to widen SR 82 to six lanes from east of Lee Boulevard to Shawnee Road, with completion estimated by summer of 2019. This 4.5 mile corridor will have a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment.
In the event of a tropical storm or hurricane, the alternate date is September 14, 2017, at the same time and location. For additional information about the project, please visit the project’s website at www.swflroads.com/sr82/leeblvdtoshawnee.
