The purpose and effect of this rule development notice is to address the possible creation of a new rule chapter for menhaden and to address other possible rule amendments for the menhaden fisheries as a result of stock assessments, federal regulatory actions, efforts to increase the clarity of the regulations, or other management or enforcement requirements. Specifically, the possible rule changes will create consistency between Florida regulations and the amendment to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic menhaden, and ensure that Florida contributes to conserving Atlantic menhaden.
