: The Florida Legislature has directed the Office of Insurance Regulation to “review Florida law and regulations to determine whether there are adequate protections for purchasers of life insurance policies in the secondary life insurance market to ensure that this market continues to exist for Florida seniors.” The Office is required to issue a report on the findings to the Legislature by December 1, 2013. Florida law allows the Office of Insurance Regulation to hold a public hearing for any purpose within the scope of the Insurance Code deemed to be necessary. In accordance with the directive of the Legislature to issue a report on this matter, the Office of Insurance Regulation is holding a public hearing. Input from investors in the secondary life insurance market, insurers, and other interested parties will be received at this public hearing. Any materials that you wish the Office of Insurance Regulation to consider must be provided to the Office of Insurance Regulation no later than October 15, 2013. Please send any materials to SecondaryLife@floir.com. Materials received on this matter will be available to the public and posted on the Office of Insurance Regulation’s website.
