The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will hold a public hearing about median modifications and pedestrian safety improvements. These modifications are part of a resurfacing project on SR 70 from Orange Avenue to Turner Avenue, DeSoto County, FL. FDOT did pedestrian counts in 2015 and determined for safety reasons the mid-block pedestrian crossings are needed. As part of this resurfacing project, FDOT is designing mid-block pedestrian crossings between North 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, and just east of 12th Avenue. The mid-block crossings will provide designated areas for pedestrians to cross SR 70.
