Project Description: State Road 80/Southern Boulevard and Forest Hill Boulevard in Palm Beach County, FL.
The project consists of intersection improvements at SR 80/Southern Boulevard and Forest Hill Boulevard in the cities of Wellington and Royal Palm Beach. The project includes adding a third westbound to southbound left-turn lane from Southern Boulevard to Forest Hill Boulevard, widening the bridge over the C-51 Canal, converting the Forest Hill Boulevard northbound right-turn lanes to one free-flowing right-turn lane, and widening Southern Boulevard to accommodate an eastbound acceleration lane. Other improvements include milling and resurfacing, drainage, curb and gutter, lighting, guardrails, signalization, sidewalks, landscaping, signage and pavement markings.
Construction will begin in October 2019 and is estimated to be completed in early 2021. The estimated construction cost is $5.7 million.
During the informal open house, attendees will have the opportunity to review roadway improvements, construction plans and traffic control plans. FDOT staff and consultant staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public information meeting to discuss the upcoming improvements to State Road 82 from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29 in Collier County, Florida. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the UF/IFAS Agriculture Research Center located at 2685 SR 29 North, Immokalee, Florida 34142.
The meeting will be an open house format; no formal presentation will be made. Those attending the meeting will be able to view displays, ask questions, and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.
The department’s contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, begins work at the end of the year 2019 to widen SR 82 from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29 from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, while allowing for a future six-lane roadway. The project completion is expected by summer of 2022. Additional improvements include construction of 5-foot wide paved shoulders, which will also serve as bike lanes, a 54-foot wide median, a 10-foot multi-use trail along the south side, and a 5-foot sidewalk along the north side. The project also includes changing the intersection at SR 29 from a stop condition with flashing beacon to a roundabout.
