Petitioner seeks a variance or waiver of Rules 64B4-6.002(1)(e) and 64B4-6.002(2), F.A.C., from the rules requirement that a licensee may obtain continuing education credit for only those hours obtained from a Board approved continuing education provider. The Board considered the Petition at its meeting held on August 15, 2019 in Orlando, Florida. The Board’s Order, filed on September 11, 2019, grants the petition for variance and waiver finding that the Petitioner met the purpose of the underlying statute by other means and that application of the rule at issue to Petitioner would violate principles of fairness or cause a substantial hardship. The Board agreed to grant Petitioner’s request, in part, and granted her 23 hours of continuing education for her attendance at the World Parkinson Congress.

The Board, at its meeting held on September 6, in Orlando, Florida, voted to approve the application contingent upon receiving transcripts from the Applicants degree program which shows sufficient academic science credits. The Applicant must submit this information within three (3) months of the filing date of the Notice of Intent to Approve Contingent.
