On February 15, 2019, the Division issued an order. The Final Order was in response to a Petition for an emergency permanent Variance from Eagle Creek Bldg R, filed January 23, 2019, and advertised on January 28, 2019 in Vol. 45, No.18, of the Florida Administrative Register. No comments were received in response to the petition. The Final Order on the Petition for Variance grants the Petitioner a variance from Rule 2.2.2.6, ASME A17.1, 2013 edition, as adopted by Rule 61C-5.001 Florida Administrative Code that requires a sump pump in the pit that is secured and level with the pit floor because the Petitioner has demonstrated that the purpose of the underlying statute has been met and that Petitioner would suffer a substantial hardship if required to comply with this rule (VW2019-017).

The intent of this project is to resurface approximately 3.5 miles of U.S. 231 from north of State Road (S.R.) 73 to north of County Road (C.R.) 162 (Jacob Road) in Jackson County. Existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders will be resurfaced. Additional improvements include guardrail upgrades and drainage improvements. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and a Restrictive Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) will be added at the U.S. 231 and Jacob Road intersection. ITS will provide improved video coverage of the U.S. 231 and Jacob Road intersection while the RCUT will reduce the number and severity of angle crashes that occur at this intersection. No right-of-way is anticipated. Bids for construction will be received fall 2019.
During the informal portion of the hearing, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) representatives will be available to discuss the project, answer questions, and receive your comments. A court reporter will also be available to receive your comments. During the formal portion of the hearing, FDOT will make a presentation followed by public comments.
