- On January 9, 2019 the Division of Hotels and Restaurants received a Petition for an Emergency Variance for Paragraph 61C-4.010(7) Florida Administrative Code and Paragraph 61C-4.010(6), Florida Administrative Code from Vice and Virtue Hospitality Group LLC located in St Petersburg. The above referenced F.A.C. addresses the requirement that at least one accessible bathroom be provided for use by customers. They are requesting to share the bathrooms located within a nearby establishment under a different ownership for use by customers only.
The Petition for this variance was published in Vol. 45/07 on January 10, 2019. The Order for this Petition was signed and approved on January 17, 2019. After a complete review of the variance request, the Division finds that the application of this Rule will create a financial hardship to the food service establishment. Furthermore, the Division finds that the Petitioner meets the burden of demonstrating that the underlying statute has been achieved by the Petitioner ensuring the bathrooms located within Victory Automotive (3001 Dr Martin Luther King Jr St N St Petersburg, FL 33704), are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner and are provided with cold running water under pressure, soap, approved hand drying devices, and are available during all hours of operation. The Petitioner shall also ensure that directional signage is installed within or outside the establishment clearly stating the location of the bathrooms. If the ownership of Pineapple Espresso (Vice and Virtue Hospitality Group LLC) and/or Victory Automotive (Victory Automotive Service) changes, an updated signed agreement for use of the bathroom facilities will be required immediately.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing about proposed plans to improve safety on State Road (S.R.) 551 (Goldenrod Road) as well as resurfacing from S.R. 15 (Hoffner Avenue) to S.R. 552 (Curry Ford Road), and from S.R. 50 (East Colonial Drive) to S.R. 426 (Aloma Avenue). Additional proposed improvements consist of:
• Converting the full median opening at Old Goldenrod Road to a directional opening, which allows southbound vehicles on Goldenrod Road to make a left turn onto Old Goldenrod Road, but westbound vehicles from Old Goldenrod Road will be limited to right turn only.
• Providing left turn access on Goldenrod Road for emergency vehicles from St. Florian Way.
• Converting the full median opening at Sun Key Boulevard/Waunatta Court to a northbound/southbound directional opening that provides an area for only one direction of traffic to make a left turn onto Sun Key Boulevard/Waunatta Court; however, traffic from Sun Key Boulevard/Waunatta Court will only be able to turn right onto Goldenrod Road.
• Installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of North Palmetto Avenue and North Goldenrod Road.
The public hearing will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the Orlando Wesleyan Church, 1665 N. Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, FL 32825. The hearing will begin as an informational open house at 5 p.m. where displays and other project information will be available for review. Staff also will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by public comments.

- The FDOT is conducting a corridor planning study for Babcock Street from Palm Bay Road to U.S. 192, a distance of approximately 3 miles. This project will be coordinated with local and regional agency partners with the purpose of evaluating an assessment of multimodal deficiencies, needs and potential context sensitive improvements along the corridor. The PVT is an advisory group (not an independent decision-making board) that will assist the FDOT and the consultant team by providing jurisdictional, policy, technical, and administrative guidance throughout the project. Your interest in this study is truly valued and appreciated. This is a working meeting with the FDOT staff and PVT members, which is open to public attendance.
This PVT meeting will include a brief presentation to review the existing conditions and future needs, as well as key corridor issues and opportunities. The PVT members will discuss and confirm the draft guiding principles, purpose and need, and performance measures to be used for evaluating alternative solutions. The Study Team will also facilitate an exercise to begin brainstorming potential future scenarios and methodologies for testing these scenarios.
