- The 2019 Florida Legislature established Chapter 2019-122, Laws of Florida, revising the criteria that the Department must consider in determining and assigning annual funding priorities for beach management and erosion control projects, and revising certain statutory provisions that the Department must consider with respect to managing inlets. To that end, the Department is amending Chapter 62B-36, F.A.C., to reflect those statutory changes. Revisions to the rule chapter necessitated by Sections 1 and 4 of Chapter 2019-122, Laws of Florida, will have a delayed effective date of July 1, 2020, as provided by the legislation.

- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting an informational open house for interim improvements to Interstate 4 (I-4) in Seminole County as part of the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate projects. These construction projects will help keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely in the area and will lay the groundwork for future improvements.
The projects include reconstructing the E.E. Williamson Road bridge over I-4, adding an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-4 from the end of the I-4 Ultimate project to Lake Mary Boulevard, resurfacing eastbound I-4 from the end of the I-4 Ultimate project to County Road 46A, and from State Road 46 to east of U.S. 17/92, and resurfacing westbound I-4 from Lake Mary Boulevard to east of U.S. 17/92.
The meeting will be an open house, where participants can visit any time between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. FDOT staff and others associated with the projects will be available to discuss the construction activities and answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation. Participants may provide public comments directly to project staff at any time during the informational open house. Written comments from all interested parties will be accepted by the department at the informational open house.

• Constructing a 10-foot multi-use path on the south side and a six-foot sidewalk on the north side, both with lighting
• Adding a concrete barrier wall to continue the sidewalk across the eastbound bridge over Lake Powell
• Constructing left turn lanes in both directions at Palm Beach Drive, Dolphin Drive, and Gulf View Drive
• Constructing eastbound left turn lanes at Gainous Road
• Constructing westbound left turn lanes at Marlin Avenue
• Constructing eastbound right turn lanes at Camp Helen State Park, Le Grand Drive, Twin Lakes Drive, Christmas Tree Lane, and the Front Beach Road signalized intersection
• Upgrading pedestrian features at the Front Beach Road signalized intersection to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
No additional right-of-way is needed. Bids for construction will be received fall 2020.
During the informal portion of the hearing, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) representatives will be available to discuss the project, answer questions, and receive your comments. A court reporter will also be available to receive your comments. During the formal portion of the hearing, FDOT will make a presentation followed by public comments.

- The Polk County Roads & Drainage Division is hosting a Public Information Meeting to present alternate roadway alignments and design concepts for the proposed widening of County Road (CR) 557 from north of the CSX railroad near US 17/92 in Lake Alfred to south of the Interstate 4 (I-4) interchange, a distance of about 6 miles. The purpose of this meeting is to seek public (community) input on the widening of the existing two-lane facility to a four-lane divided roadway, to include intersection improvements and bicycle and pedestrian features within the study corridor. Polk County sent notices to owners of properties located within 500 feet of the roadway corridor or whose properties are solely accessed by CR 557.
Anyone can attend this open house style meeting. After opening remarks and a brief project presentation, attendees can view related exhibits and ask questions of project staff. A continuous-loop project video can also be watched during the remainder of the meeting. Residents and property owners are encouraged to submit written comments by mail or online at the County website (www.polk-county.net). A two-week public comment period ends on November 5, 2019.
