5C-13.0035. Definitions

  • 1For the purpose of this rule chapter, the following definitions shall apply:

    13(1) Enhanced Virus Isolation – virus isolation techniques requiring specialized media.

    24(2) Food and Fiber animals – animal species commonly used as a food source or in food production. Species include cattle, swine, goats, sheep, poultry, captive cervids, alpacas, llamas, and rabbits.

    55(3) Non-poultry – any of a class of (Aves) of warm-blooded vertebrates distinguished by having the body more or less completely covered with feathers and the forelimbs modified as wings that are not defined as poultry in subsection 5C-13.0035(5), F.A.C.

    95(4) Other animals- any animal not meeting the definition of Food and Fiber animals, non-poultry, or poultry as defined in subsections 5C-13.0035(2)-(3), (5), F.A.C.

    119(5) Poultry – domesticated fowl, including chickens, turkeys, ostriches, emus, rheas, cassowaries, waterfowl and game birds (including restocking supplies of game birds), except doves and pigeons, which are bred for the primary purpose of producing eggs, meat, or for breeding these categories of birds.

    163(6) Surveillance- a form of data recording that encompasses gathering, documenting, and analyzing data to evaluate disease status for disease eradication or control.
