61G18-16. Continuing Education |
1(1) The continuing education requirements outlined in Rules 961G18-16.001 10and 1161G18-16.002, 12F.A.C., may be complied with by attendance at approved scientific veterinary medical meetings.
25(2) Approved courses are deemed scientific if continuing education courses are provided by:
38(a) National, State and International veterinary association meetings and Board meetings;
49(b) Board Certified Specialties recognized by the AVMA;
57(c) University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine sponsored courses, including clinical grand rounds, veterinary resident’s seminars and Board specialty review sessions;
79(d) The Registry of Approved Continuing Education Courses (RACE); and
89(e) United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services.
103(f) Any AVMA accredited school of veterinary medicine.
111(3) Upon specific request, continuing education courses shall be approved by the Board whenever the courses provide additional current information with respect to the practice of veterinary medicine. Such requests shall include the following:
145(a) A detailed course outline or syllabus;
152(b) A current curriculum vitae of each speaker or lecturer;
162(c) The procedure to be used for recording attendance; and
172(d) The number of continuing education hours for which the course sponsor requests approval.
186(4) Beginning on May 31, 2006, each provider, unless exempted by rule, shall be registered with the Board. The fee for such registration shall be $200 and such registration must be renewed by May 31 of every other even numbered year.
227(5) Course approval shall expire four (4) years from the date of approval. Continuing education providers shall reapply for approval of any course that has expired by complying with Rule 25761G18-16.0035, 258F.A.C.
