6A-19.003. Health Services

Effective on Monday, March 11, 1985
  • 1When health services or other related services are provided for students, the services shall be provided in a manner which does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, national origin, marital status or handicap. Institutions are not required to provide specialized services and aids to handicapped persons in health programs. If, for example, an infirmary treats only simple disorders such as cuts, bruises and colds, its obligation to handicapped persons is to treat such disorders for them.

79(1) If health services are provided for students, handicapped students shall be provided the opportunity to participate in the services at no greater cost than to nonhandicapped.

106(2) If comprehensive health care services are provided, said services shall be available for maternity or pregnancy related reasons and for handicapped students in the same manner and at the same cost as for other students.

142(3) Handicapped students who receive health or other related services need not receive those general health screenings which would be duplicative or less intensive than screenings or evaluations they have already received in the development of their educational plans.
