ITB No. 14/15-013WS Installation of Pumps, Pipe and Bioreactor for Nitrate Mitigation Project

The project consists of installing the equipment necessary to pump groundwater from seven existing interceptor wells through a collection manifold to a lined, earthen excavated area (bioreactor) that will be filled with layers of gravel, sand, and sawdust and that will be drained using an exfiltration ditch. The purpose of the bioreactor is to strip nitrate from the groundwater as it passes through. The major components of the project are 1) installation of well pumps and associated electrical connection and control circuitry, 2) piping from the seven interceptor wells to a central collection manifold and then to the denitrification bioreactor, and 3) construction of the denitrification bioreactor and exfiltration ditch and filling the bioreactor with the biofilter materials/matrix, consisting of gravel, sand, and wood chips.

The project area is in an actively grazed field. The contractor is responsible for securing equipment and uncompleted and finished construction against cattle that might be introduced into the area with no notice. Contractor is responsible for damage to fences and gates during construction.

    Bids are due March 6, 2015, by 4:00 p.m.
