    RULE NO.:RULE TITLE:

61G15-20.007Educational Requirements for Applicants without EAC/ABET Accredited Engineering Degrees

The Board of Professional Engineers hereby gives notice: of the issuance of an Order regarding the Petition for Variance or Waiver, filed on August 1, 2022 by Alycia Ciresi. The Notice of Petition for Variance or Waiver was published in Vol. 48 No. 195, of the October 6, 2022, Florida Administrative Register. Petitioner sought a Variance or Waiver of Rule 61G15-20.007, F.A.C., which establishes criteria by which an Applicant without an EAC/ABET approved undergraduate engineering degree can establish educational equivalency as required by section 471.013, F.S., and thus qualify for licensure in Florida. The Board considered the instant Petition at a duly noticed public meeting held on October 13, 2022. The Board’s Order was filed on October 25, 2022. The Board found Petitioner had failed to meet the purpose of the underlying statute by other means and has failed to demonstrate application of the rule to Petitioner would create an undue hardship or violate principles of fairness and the application for licensure should be denied. Prior to such vote, Petitioner requested to withdrawal both the application and the Petition; no cause to the contrary being shown, the Board accepted the withdrawals and dismissed the Petition.
