The Board of Massage Therapy hereby gives notice of the issuance of an Order regarding the Petition for Variance or Waiver, filed on August 17, 2016, by Denett Renea Parham-Shilov. The Notice of Petition for Waiver or Variance was published in Vol. 43, No. 61, of the March 29, 2017, Florida Administrative Register. Petitioner sought a variance or waiver of Rules 64B7-32.003, F.A.C. regarding the requirements of the completion of a minimum of 500 classroom hours. The Board considered the instant Petition at a duly-noticed public meeting held on September 14, 2016, by telephone conference call.
The Board’s Order, filed on March 31, 2017, grants the Petitioner’s request stating that the petition is in substantial compliance with the provisions of Section 120.542, F.S. and Chapter 28-104, F.A.C. Petitioner has met the purpose of the underlying statute. Additionally, Petitioner would suffer a substantial hardship if she were required to attend an approved massage school after 18 years of licensed practice in Texas.
