62-560.510Drinking Water Variance Request

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on April 5, 2016, the Department of Environmental Protection received a petition for variance from the City of Punta Gorda for its Shell Creek Drinking Water Treatment Facility, which treats and supplies potable water to Punta Gorda Utility customers. The Punta Gorda City Hall is located at 326 W. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. The request was filed under the authority of Rule 62-560.510, F.A.C., and was for relief from the secondary drinking water standard for total dissolved solids of 500 mg/L. The petitioner requested a relaxed total dissolved solids limit not to exceed 1,000 mg/L until the year 2021, which is 5 years beyond the expiration of their current variance, PA File No.: 303487-001-WC/V1, to allow time for completion of the City’s Groundwater Reverse Osmosis System project.
