NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Nursing has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Michelle D. McEvoy on September 22, 2014. The following is a summary of the agency’s disposition of the petition:
The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Volume 40, No. 186, of the September 24, 2014 Florida Administrative Register. Petitioner asks the Board’s opinion as to whether it is within the scope of practice of a specially trained RN as defined in Section 464.003(20)(a)(b)(c), Florida Statues, to perform visually-guided sclerotherapy and administer the FDA approved sclerosants of Sotradecol and Asclera under a physician's orders and supervision The Board’s Order, filed on May 7, 2015, finds that under the specific facts of the petition, the performance of visually-guided sclerotherapy on small and medium sized veins on the surface of a patient’s skin under the supervision of a physician is within the scope of practice of an appropriately trained registered nurse.
