    State Plan Amendment

The Agency for Health Care Administration announces that it is requesting an amendment to the Medicaid State Plan. This state plan amendment increases the Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) from $35 to $105 for individuals and from $70 to $210 for couples that are Florida Medicaid recipients residing in institutional settings including Intermediate Care Facilities run by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. The PNA is a deduction from the total monthly income used in calculating patient responsibility for cost of care and is the amount of income the Medicaid recipient can keep each month for their personal needs such as clothing, a haircut, toiletries and other items not paid for by Medicaid or Medicare. This change is effective July 1, 2014 as authorized by House Bill 5001, the General Appropriations Act, signed by Governor Scott on June 2, 2014.
