Purpose

At its September 2016 meeting, the Commission approved proposed rules for gray triggerfish to decrease the Atlantic recreational and commercial minimum size limits, as well as the statewide importation and sale minimum size limit, from 14 inches to 12 inches fork length, and to establish a 10-fish recreational bag limit in Atlantic state waters. The proposed rule amendment would clarify that the recreational and commercial minimum size limit approved by the Commission for Atlantic gray triggerfish is measured by fork length. The effect of the proposed rule would be to provide additional guidance to harvesters on the how the 12-inch size limit is measured.
