The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor, Condotte-deMoya JV, began construction in February 2014 on this $83 million design-build project to improve east/west traffic flow in Pinellas County along Gandy Boulevard from I-275 to East of 4th Street North. Condotte-deMoya JV is transforming the existing Gandy Boulevard to an elevated six-lane roadway (three in each direction) from I-275 to west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and four lanes (two in each direction) from west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North to east of 4th Street North. The main objective of the project is to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow on Gandy Blvd, 4th Street North, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and 94th Avenue North by creating an elevated Gandy Boulevard with interchanges and frontage roads. Interchanges will be built at 94th Avenue North, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, Roosevelt Boulevard, and 4th Street North. A frontage road system will parallel the mainline roadway. Project completion by Spring of 2017.
