1The following subjects: must be included in training courses for logging supervisors.
13(1) Fundamentals of radiation safety, including:
19(a) Characteristics of radiation;
23(b) Units of radiation dose and, if appropriate, quantity of radioactivity;
34(c) Significance of radiation dose, including:
401. Radiation protection standards; and
452. Biological effects of radiation dose;
51(d) Levels of radiation from sources of radiation; and
60(e) Methods of minimizing radiation dose, including:
671. Working time;
702. Working distances; and
743. Shielding.
76(2) Radiation detection instrumentation to be used, including:
84(a) Use of radiation survey instruments, including operation, calibration and limitations;
95(b) Survey techniques; and
99(c) Use of personnel monitoring equipment.
105(3) Equipment to be used, including:
111(a) Handling equipment, if appropriate;
116(b) Sources of radiation;
120(c) Storage precautions, if appropriate, and control of equipment; and
130(d) Operation and control of equipment.
136(4) The requirements of these regulations.
142(5) The licensee’s or registrant’s written operating and emergency procedures.
152(6) The licensee’s or registrant’s record keeping procedures.
