    NOTICE OF CHANGE

    Notice is hereby given that the following changes have been made to the proposed rule in accordance with subparagraph 120.54(3)(d)1., F.S., published in Vol. 44 No. 9, January 12, 2018 issue of the Florida Administrative Register.

    The changes are being made in accordance with comments made by the Florida Association of Colleges of Nursing (FACN) regarding number of clinical hours required.

     

    64B9-2.021 Curriculum Guidelines.

    (1) All nursing programs requesting Board of Nursing approval leading to initial licensure must conform with the Florida Department of Education curriculum framework.

    (2) through (3) No change.

    (4) Specific minimum requirements for professional nursing education programs:

    (a) Content:

    1. Medical, : 70 hours didactic, 127 hours clinical.

    2. Surgical, : 45 hours didactic, 104 hours clinical.

    3. Obstetrics, :  31 hours didactic, 44 hours clinical.

    4. Pediatrics, :  32 hours didactic, 43 hours clinical.

    5. Psychiatric, : 34 hours didactic, 53 hours clinical.

    6. Geriatric,

    7. Acute care, long term care and community settings,

    8.6. Personal, family, and community health concepts,.

    9.7. Nutrition,.

    10.8. Human growth and development throughout the life span,.

    11.9. Body structure and function,.

    12.10. Interpersonal relationship and leadership skills,.

    13.11. Mental health concepts,.

    14.12. Pharmacology and administration of medication,

    15.13. Legal aspects of practice,

    16.14. Professional role and function, and.

    17.15. Health teaching and counseling skills.

    (b) No change.

    (5) Specific minimum requirements for practical nursing programs.

    (a) Content:

    1. Medical,: 87 hours didactic, 115 hours clinical.

    2. Surgical,: 76 hours didactic, 103 hours clinical.

    3. Obstetrics,:  34 hours didactic, 47 hours clinical.

    4. Pediatrics,:  27 hours didactic, 38 hours clinical.

    6. Acute care, long term care and community settings,
