64B2-13.007. Continuing Education Requirements During Initial Licensure Period

  • 1(1)(a) During the first biennium 6or within twenty-four (24) months of initial licensure, whichever ends 16later, 17practitioners are required to attend one (1) full day at a Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine meeting at which disciplinary hearings are conducted as provided in paragraph 4464B2-13.004(10)(a), 45F.A.C. In addition to attendance at a Board meeting, practitioners are required to complete a minimum of six (6) hours of record keeping/documentation and coding and two (2) hours in the area of ethics and boundaries, as provided in subsection 8564B2-13.004(2), 86F.A.C.

    87(b) Through the current licensure renewal biennium which ends March 31, 2022, practitioners may satisfy this requirement by attending a live, synchronous online (“virtual live”) board meeting. Beginning with the next renewal biennium, April 1, 2022, the current requirement for live, in-person attendance is restored.

    132(2) In addition to requirements detailed in paragraph 14064B2-13.004(10)(a), 141F.A.C., each practitioner must certify attendance at a board meeting by:

    152(a) Pre-registering 154fourteen 155(14) 156calendar 157days 158prior 159to 160the 161meeting 162on 163the 164board’s 165website, 166accessible 167at 168https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/register-for-a-board-meeting/;

    169(b) Arriving at least fifteen (15) minutes before the meeting;

    179(c) Signing the attendance roster before the start and after adjournment of the meeting, including providing or verifying a current email address;

    201(d) Receiving 203a 204certificate 205of 206attendance 207from 208the 209Executive 210Director 211of 212the 213Board or 215designee 216within thirty (30) days following the 222adjournment 223of the meeting; and

    227(e) Uploading the certificate of attendance into the Florida Department of Health’s designated continuing 241education 242tracking 243system.

    244(3) Attendance 246at 247the 248board 249meeting 250shall 251be 252subject 253to 254review, 255monitoring, 256and auditing 258by 259the 260board 261and Department.

    263(4) Once the practitioner has completed the continuing education hours required by subsection (1) and completed the continuing education courses on HIV/AIDS and Prevention of Medical Errors required by Rule 29364B2-13.0045, 294F.A.C., licensed 296practitioners shall not be required to complete any other continuing education requirements during the biennium in which they receive initial licensure.

    317(5) 318No later than ninety (90) days prior to 326December 31, 2025, the Board shall review and consider amendment, modification, or repeal of this rule if review determines this rule creates barriers to entry for private business competition, is duplicative, outdated, obsolete, overly burdensome, or imposes excessive costs. 365Failure by the Board to act in accordance with this provision will result in the expiration of this rule on December 31, 2025.
